Oh yes, did we mention the price? Indie girl’s cost per service is lower than the majority of the “big brands.” Quick, easy application, excellent wearability, faster service time, great color selection and cost effective... IndieGirl has it all.

Can you use IndieGirl for pedicures?
Yes, it can also be used on toes for long wearing color. Follow the same application steps as you would for fingernails.

How many IndieGirl gel polish colors are available?
140 gotta-have-it! shades available. Every one of our gel polish colors is somebody’s new favorite.

What type of lamp is needed?
IndieGirl works with almost any professional LED or UV light. For best cure results we recommend you use a 28W or higher LED or regular UV light.  Don’t forget, if using a UV light you need to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and replace bulbs, on average, every 6 months.

Does this product have a sticky layer?
Because IndieGirl is 100% gel it does produce that traditional inhibition layer like all true gels. This is a result of the curing process and is cleanly removed with a swipe of 99% IPA (isopropyl alcohol). We recommend you use 99% IPA at the finish of curing to remove the entire residue and leave the highest shine.

Do I need to shake the bottle to mix it?
No way! Our advanced gel formula technology allows your IndieGirl polish to sit on a shelf without the color ever settling inside the bottle. This means no shaking, faster and smoother application and less wasted product, saving you time and effort.

What is the proper IndieGirl gel polish cure time?
IndieGirl cure times are 30-seconds per coat with LED and 2-minutes per coat with UV light.

How do I remove IndieGirl product and what is the removal time?
Removal time is nine minutes with a wrap technique. We advise you use pure acetone or the gel polish remover of your choice with your preferred wrap technique. With pure acetone and a good wrap, IndieGirl should dissolve in 9 minutes. After 9 minutes remove wrap from finger and slide product off gently using a rubber-tipped tool.  To accelerate removal, lightly file with no more than a 180 grit file to “break” the seal and allow for faster product breakdown. For further tips on removal check out IndieGirl, click here to view our “Application and Removal” video.

Can IndieGirl gel polish be used over acrylic nails?
Yes! IndieGirl can be applied to acrylic nails because there are no harsh chemicals or acids in our gel. Note: removing IndieGirl from acrylic will require extended time.

How many services can I perform per bottle?
One 0.5oz bottle of IndieGirl two-touch gel color will provide at least 35 services (2 coats on 10 nails) That makes your cost per service $0.37. One 0.5oz Indiergirl Top Coat will provide at least 50 services (1 coat on 10 nails). That makes your cost per service $0.26. That is a total service cost of $0.63.

Is it necessary to apply a bonder or a base coat before the first Color Coat or Top Coat?
No, IndieGirl is a highly developed gel polish with the base coat already integrated in so there is no need for a bonder or base coat.

Can I mix other product brands with IndieGirl Color or Top Coat?
Always follow the manufacturers’ instructions for best results. We have full confidence in the IndieGirl system and cannot predict what the results would be if brands are mixed.

What causes lifting?
The most common reason for lifting at the cuticle line is gel polish coming in contact with soft tissue or oil and residue on the nail plate at the time of application. Lifting at the free edge is most often caused by not “capping” the free edge. To insure the best wear possible, always do a thorough prep, pushing back all soft tissue and removing any loose pterygium. Remove all residue and cleanse the nail plate with the nail prep product of your choice. During application, be sure to apply color and top coat layers up to the cuticle, but avoid touching the skin. To avoid free edge lifting or separation be sure you are capping the free edge with each layer of product, including the top coat, to protect the edge. One other potential cause of lifting is under-cured product. Be sure you are curing each layer of product for at least 30 seconds per coat in a LED light and 2 minutes each coat in a UV light. Lastly, if using a UV light, be sure your UV bulbs are at full strength. Follow the manufacturers’ recommendations for UV bulb use and change the bulbs regularly. Remember UV bulbs do not burn out but they do lose their strength.

Why is the gel polish not curing properly on the nail?
Make sure you apply product in thin even layers. Applying thick layers of gel color can sometimes cause gel to not cure properly.  Be sure you are curing each layer of product for at least 30 seconds per coat in a LED lightand 2 minutes per coat in a UV light. Lastly, if using a UV light, be sure your UV bulbs are at full strength. Follow the manufacturers’ recommendations for UV bulb use and change the bulbs regularly. Remember UV bulbs do not burn out but they do lose their strength.

Why is the gel polish too runny?
The gel product is too warm. Store products in a cool place and avoid direct heat. If it feels runny or thin, allow bottle to stand and cool to room temperature.

Why won’t the gel polish level properly?
The gel product is too cold. Allow the gel polish to stand at room temperature, or place the closed bottle in warm water until the product reaches proper consistency.

Why do the nails look dull immediately after curing?
Because IndieGirl is 100% gel, it produces a traditional inhibition layer like all true gels. This is a result of the curing process and is easily removed with a swipe of 99% IPA (isopropyl alcohol). We recommend you use 99% IPA after curing to remove the entire residue and leave the highest shine. One other potential issue might be under-curing.

Why are my gel-polished nails becoming discolored or yellow?
Sun bed, tanning products or tan booster could be to blame. Keep nails away from tanning lotions, or clean off the nail surface after using heavy sun care products.

Why am I experiencing pooling of product around thumbs?
To ensure an even layer of gel on the thumbs we recommend curing the thumbs separately, so the thumb can be placed flat in the light for curing.

What about handling an overgrowth of cuticle (pterygium) on the nail plate?
Always follow proper prep steps to gently push back and loosen any pterygium on the nail plate around the cuticle line. Remember, skin naturally contains oil and moisture, which could create lifting.

How long does IndieGirl two-touch color last?
Nails should stay camera-ready perfect for a minimum of 14 days or until re-growth demands another manicure.

Do I have to use a Top Coat?
Yes, After applying IndieGirl two-touch color (2 coats,) you will need to apply one thin layer of IndieGirl Top Coat.  IndieGirl Top Coat will help protect and seal your gel manicure and make them shine above the rest!

Is your client on medication or pregnant?
Medications change the body’s chemistry, including the chemical balance in the nail plate. Antibiotics and other medications can cause problems with a client who regularly has no problems with their nails. Pregnancy can also cause sudden lifting on a client who previously has had no such problems. We recommend you schedule more frequent services to insure your client’s nails are always picture-perfect during these special times.

Will household products or chemicals affect gel nails?
Some harsh household cleaning products may affect the wear of gels. If this is a problem for a client, recommend that she wear rubber gloves to avoid direct contact with chemicals, or better yet, hire a cleaning service!

Why am I experiencing shrinkage from the cuticle or nail tip?
If you experience shrinkage, please review IndieGirl’s “Application and Removal Video Tutorials.”  If all steps are being followed and shrinkage still occurs, make sure the nail plate has been properly cleaned with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol.

Why is IndieGirl gel polish wrinkling?
If you experience product wrinkling, your application is too thick.  Always remember to apply two thin even layers of IndieGirl Two-Touch Gel Polish for the best results.

Are IndieGirl Gel Polish Colors and Top Coat interchangeable with other product brands?
IndieGirl is a simple and effective Gel Color and Top Coat system and they are designed to work together for ultimate results. We would encourage you to try any Miss Independent brands together, as they are formulated to work together seamlessly. However, we do not recommend mixing IndieGirl with other brands. Always follow the manufacturers’ instructions for best results, as we cannot predict results when mixing with other brands.

Will IndieGirl products damage my nails?
No. Damage to nails is usually the result of aggressive, improper prep and/or removal.  Always treat the natural nail with great care to avoid damage.
